The City of Midway was incorporated in 1987. Midway has a long history dating back to the earliest days of Florida. One common myth is that Midway was actually the point where representatives from Pensacola and St. Augustine first met to determine the Capitol of Florida.

Midway is located in Gadsden County about ten miles from Tallahassee and conveniently located near the intersection of two major highways-Interstate 10 and US 90. Midway has the comforts of rural Florida with close access to shopping destinations and educational institutions. 

The City Council has approved subdivision plans for over 1,000 single family homes. Midway also has two large commercial areas of over 1000 acres.
